UW in the High School

Registration

Any student who is enrolled in and passes a UW course at their high school earns high school credit. If you wish to earn UW credit at the same time, you must register through UWHS using the process described below by the applicable deadline.

Due to new Washington state funding to support College in the High School courses, students who attend public schools can register to earn UW credit in UW courses offered through UW in the High School at no cost. Private school students pay $79/credit. Learn more about payment.

Registration Timeline

The registration window opens at the beginning of each course, as soon as your teacher hands out the registration materials. We encourage you to register as soon as possible, so you don’t miss the registration deadline.

For the 2024–2025 school year, the registration window for first semester and yearlong courses is September 16 through October 16, 2024. The window for second semester courses is February 3 through March 3, 2025. We encourage you to register as soon as possible so you don’t miss the registration deadline.

How to Register for UW Credit

After the course begins, your teacher will distribute a registration form and a registration fact sheet to students who are eligible to register for UW credit.

You can register in one of three ways.

To register online (preferred method): You'll need your course registration number to start the registration process. This number can be found on your registration form. Note: We encourage you to take a screen shot of the confirmation.

To register by phone: Have your course registration number available. Call Registration Services at 206-543-2310 during office hours: Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.

To register by mail: Complete and mail the registration form. If you are registering for more than one UW course, you can include all forms in one envelope.

Registration Confirmation

After you register through one of the above methods, Registration Services will process your registration and email a transaction summary to the email address you provide. This summary will be your confirmation that you are registered for UW credit. Note: This process may take several weeks due to the high volume of registrations.

If you're a private school student, after you register, you'll get a separate email in one to two business days with a link to a secure payment site to pay your course fee.

Late Registration Petition

UWHS recognizes there can be circumstances beyond a student’s control that prevent them from meeting the registration deadline to earn UW credits for UW courses taught at high schools. The late registration petition provides students with the opportunity to communicate the details of their delay and have them reviewed by the UWHS office. Late registration approval is not granted for misunderstanding the registration deadline, forgetting about the deadline, or being ill or too busy on the day of the deadline. Petitions for late registration are accepted up to two weeks following the registration deadline.
